Delivery of the first stage of Sovereign Hills’ much anticipated centrepiece has moved a step closer with the commencement of earthworks on the town centre site.
The developer of the master planned community Lewis Land Group (LLG) expects the earthworks to take place over the coming two months, as the detailed design work continues.
“We intend to commence physical building works in October this year,” explained LLG Head of Development Michael Long.
Stage 1 comprises 5,600sq.m of retail space surrounded by landscaped areas at the junction of Chancellors and John Oxley Drive, with the town centre to grow in stages to more than 25,000sq.m.
“Lewis Land Group is delighted to be providing the first stage of planned convenience shopping with a quality mix of supermarket, chemist, medical, convenience and restaurant offerings. We see this as an integral stage of delivery for the Sovereign Hills master planned community.”
LLG anticipates the tender process with potential building contractors will start in August, with plans to open the town centre for business in late 2019.
LLG remains committed to local employment growth throughout the Sovereign Hills estate and expects the town centre will create hundreds of jobs, both during and after the construction phase.
The open-air design will feature roof-mounted solar panels, with rain water harvesting to be utilised for all landscaping irrigation, while recycled bricks and natural timbers will form the key architectural features of the building.
Sovereign Hills locals are looking forward to the convenience of having a town centre in their backyard.
Port Macquarie’s fastest growing community remains a popular choice for both local and interstate buyers, seeking an affordable new home in a modern estate, just 10 minutes from the CBD and coastline.
LLG will release close to 200 new residential lots over the next 12 months to keep up with demand.
Upon completion, the Sovereign Hills master planned community will be home to 2,000+ new residences, onsite schooling, childcare, recreation facilities, and, shortly, the new town centre.
