Disillusioned with the high-density development appearing over their fence in Western Sydney, Barbara and Paul Eichorn fast-tracked their 5-year plan to leave the city.
The Eichorns stumbled upon the Sovereign Hills master planned community and display village while visiting friends in the Hastings and within hours had chosen a block of land overlooking the Stirling Green parkland and settled on a home builder.
“It was just the vibe we felt from the home,” explained Barbara. “It was the second home we went through and everything just felt so good.”
Barbara and Paul chose Hotondo Homes to bring their new home vision to life. They felt so confident in their builder, they rarely visited the construction site while they sold their property in Schofields, packed up decades of memories and bid farewell to their colleagues.
“While we didn’t downsize our home – this house is a little bit bigger than our last – our move has certainly downsized the stress and the anxiety that comes with living in Sydney. We’ve lost the busyness and life is a lot more relaxed,” shared Barbara.
Today the Eichorns have created a warm and stylish haven for themselves and their visiting family and seven grandchildren. Their Hamptons style home featuring monochrome feature tiles on the facade is a real head-turner. The country/coastal vibe continues throughout the home’s crisp interior which features clever zoning for the Eichorn’s special visitors.
“My parents used to live in Port Macquarie and our children were used to coming here for holidays and now our grandchildren are creating similar memories with us.
“At Sovereign Hills we are halfway between our family in Sydney and in Queensland… The park across the road gets a bit of use while the children are here.”
The garden has been a labour of love for Paul, who continues to work in Port Macquarie, and Barbara who are loving their new environment.
“Wherever we go in Port Macquarie, whether it’s into town, or Wauchope, we always just go how lucky are we, we live here.”
