The final piece in the Sovereign Hills Display Village is ready for its big reveal as Stroud Homes prepares to show the region’s booming housing industry its true capabilities.

This Saturday (24 March) at 10am, Port Macquarie region franchise owners Joel and Alla Freeman will throw open the doors to the Wildflower 274 design on Sovereign Drive.

This stunning home has, unlike the design’s name, been cultivated to perfection. The Stroud team has left no stone unturned in its execution, inside and out.

“We just wanted to go with the design that felt right,” shared Joel as Sovereign Hills was given a sneak peek of the finished product.

“We got in touch with the Stroud network of builders for their feedback on the Wildflower layout and the response was it’s very practical.

“It has a lot of the features people look for in a home today; three living areas, separate parents’ retreat and size-wise it’s still affordable.”

The home’s skillion roof and textured façade of cladding, timber and render, framed by the eye-catching landscaping by Abundance Lifestyle and Garden, give you the impression something special awaits inside.

You’re not disappointed as the supersized hallway leads to the open kitchen, dining and living space, which connects to a nicely proportioned media room and tiled alfresco area overlooking the beautifully curated backyard.

Many of the kitchen elements are from the builder’s standard range, including the 20mm Caesarstone benchtops, splashback tiles and 900mm gas cooktop and oven.

Bonus features, such as the 2.7m raised ceilings, remote-controlled skylights and pillarless sliding stacker doors which bring the outdoors in, are also showcased.

The Wildflower design was also modified slightly to accommodate a practical study nook, a spacious walk-through shower in the master ensuite and tiled private landing to the rear garden from the master bedroom. It’s here you are greeted by one of the home’s biggest surprises – a weathered timber feature wall constructed from 100-year-old salvaged materials.

“It may polarise people, but we wanted to showcase something different,” added Joel.

Three more bedrooms are located around a convenient kids’ retreat and stylish three-way bathroom.

The home is furnished with a Scandinavian flair to great effect, but the Freemans hope the styling won’t detract from the build itself.

They’ve been determined to attract the best tradespeople in the business, despite the buoyant housing market.

“You need to communicate properly, pay on time and keep work up to them. A lot comes down to your relationships.”

The Freemans are a real success story. Drawing on their background within the building and real estate industries and strata management, Joel and Alla opened the Stroud Homes franchise in Port Macquarie 18 months ago, with a toddler and a baby on the way.

With Joel running the new home sales (supported by Sarah Thomson), while coordinating and supervising the various trades, and with Alla in administration, their first home sales quickly followed and the brand has gained real traction within their building territory. They have now expanded their team to include a supervisor and contracts manager.

“I was nervous about how the brand would be perceived by the public and my peers, but I’ve had the opposite response. My peers have given encouragement and support and the general public has been very receptive,” explained Joel.

“The late nights are pretty full on, but I still get a massive kick out of it. The phone doesn’t stop.”

Special guest Paralympian Ryley Batt will open the Stroud Homes display on Saturday (24 March) at 10am. The open day will run until 5pm and feature prize giveaways, sausage sizzle by the Lake Innes Rural Fire Brigade and balloon sculpting. Read more here.
