Port Macquarie’s Luke Baxter and Monique Sloane set themselves a 3-year plan to build their first home together.
After working hard to save their deposit, the young couple purchased a block of land in the Sovereign Hills community and found there was an added bonus.
“It’s great knowing that we are moving in next door to more first home buyers, especially since they are in the same age bracket,” shared Luke.
“We did not know Cooper and Laura before purchasing our block. After meeting them, we were relieved to know that our new neighbours seem like great friendly people.”
After attending the Sovereign Hills Display Village’s 2019 finance Q&A session, which heard from a panel of local experienced finance experts, the couple realised they were well on their way to achieving their home ownership dream.
“We achieved our deposit goals by staying dedicated, setting up a realistic budget and tightening our spending.”
They settled on a new home design with Sovereign Hills Display Village builder Better Homes and Developments, and were thrilled when construction started recently.
Sovereign Hills Land Sales Manager Luke Moreta said it was extremely satisfying guiding first home buyers through their land purchase.
“They are such an important part of our growing community in Sovereign Hills,” Mr Moreta explained.
“Luke and Monique are fantastic young people who have worked hard to get where they are.”
Sovereign Hills is continuing to assist buyers of all stages with their land enquiries despite the COVID-19 restrictions.
“Despite the negative media, Sovereign Hills has largely bucked the trend with sales seemingly unaffected during the social restrictions. Our sales enquiry numbers were initially lower, but they have grown steadily since mid-April and are now back to normal levels.
“Our biggest challenge will be keeping up the new land supply with only 14 blocks of land remaining across two residential precincts.”
This includes new lots in Sovereign Hills’ new residential precinct The Heritage, which was released in March.
“I think the popularity and demand for The Heritage took us all by surprise with 36 of the 45 lots selling within 14 days of release.
“We still have six level and affordable lots remaining in this precinct, and with registration anticipated in late May 2020 you can still build your dream home in time for Christmas.”
Luke and Monique will move into their new home well before the festive season is upon us again and are looking forward to joining Sovereign Hills’ growing community.
“We decided to build at Sovereign Hills because of the quiet close-knit community, the future planning, proximity to shops and essential facilities,” added Luke Baxter.
“I’m so glad we were able to help them find the perfect homesite for their dream home,” finished Mr Moreta.
