Plan ahead – This was the key message to 80 first home buyers who attended a workshop aimed at helping them get their foot in the door, faster.
Sovereign Hills, in conjunction with the Sovereign Hills Display Village, hosted the free information evening at Panthers, revealing they will give away $25,000 to help five first home buyers achieve their home ownership dream.
A $5,000 house and land deposit voucher will be awarded to the next five first home buyers who both purchase a Sovereign Hills block of land and sign a building contract with a Sovereign Hills display village builder between 5 July and 21 December this year.
“It’s a great reward for five lucky first home buyers and we know this will make a big difference to their final outcome,” said Sovereign Hills’ Land Sales Manager Luke Moreta.
“We hope the evening demonstrated that building a home can be affordable. We know it can be achieved at Sovereign Hills for $540 a week, and if first home buyers take the right steps to save now it can happen sooner than they may think.”
Port Macquarie’s Kaleb Moran now has an extra $1,000 to put towards his home deposit savings after taking out the lucky door prize.
Kaleb was among attendees to take notes from Hastings home loan specialist Matt Lester, who urged them to be realistic with their budget and establish a savings pattern.
“Preparation of your budget is paramount in obtaining finance in the modern banking world,” Matt Lester shared.
“Aim low and hit high. Don’t let the bank dictate your repayments to you. Paying an extra $20 a week can save you up to $30,000 over the life of a 25-year loan.”
Attendees were also presented with a range of affordable home designs from the Sovereign Hills Display Village builders who are available seven days a week on Sovereign Drive, Port Macquarie, and have a range of resources available to help first home buyers navigate their home purchase.
The Land Sales Centre can also guide first home buyers through the process and Luke Moreta hoped the evening would encourage attendees to start a conversation about their home ownership goals, and then set about making them a reality.
