Port Macquarie-Hastings Council has adopted its operational plan for the 2019/20 financial year.

The plan details the actions, activities, projects, budget and performance measures Council will deliver on behalf of the community during the next financial year.

Mayor Peta Pinson said the budget continues to focus on delivering key projects for our community which support and cater for the future growth of our region.

“Involvement and feedback from our community has been critical in the development of next year’s budget, which is a very positive sign for the future of our region,” said Ms Pinson.

“There’s a diverse range of projects planned, from road upgrades to new playground upgrades, improved sporting facilities, critical infrastructure and more.

“Continuing on from significant investment in important infrastructure over recent years, I’m excited that Council can continue to bring numerous new projects to life for our community,” Ms Pinson said.

In 2019/20 Council will invest more than $85 million in capital works projects including $36.1 million on the maintenance and upgrade of our road network, $23.6 million on local sports and recreation facilities and around $17.2 million on water supply.

Port Macquarie:

• Flynns Beach Seawall Replacement – Stage 1 – $1,622,200
• The Ruins Way – road reconstruction – $950,000
• Settlement Point Reserve – playground replacement – $85,750
• Stuart Park – Regional Sporting Precinct – $2,539,586
• Port Macquarie Aquatic Facility – design finalisation – $450,000
• Port Macquarie Airport Terminal Upgrade – Construction finalisation – $2,375,000

Wauchope, rural and surrounds:

• Reservoir Park, High Street – playground replacement – $21,000
• Rocks Ferry Reserve – playground upgrade – $102,500
• Hastings Regional Sporting Complex – construction – $2,000,000
• Bago Road Rehabilitation – Milligan’s Road to Bluewater Crescent – $2,563,587
• Kindee Bridge – detailed designs – $300,000
• Pembrooke Road – Stoney Creek Road bridge upgrade – $500,000

Laurieton, Camden Haven and surrounds:

• Bold Street Pedestrian Crossing – design and construction – $455,000
• Lake Cathie Foreshore Reserve –construction of skate facility – $312,000
• Kendall Sports Ground – Sports facility upgrade – $155,000
• North Haven Beach Reserve –Upgrade of North Haven to Bonny Hills walkway – $104,000
• Continuation of construction of Kew Sewerage Treatment Plant – $5,000,000
• Rainbow Beach New Sports Fields Development – $6,162,572

General Manager Craig Swift-McNair said that this years’ plan is a continuation of the great work of recent years, and Council will continue to work on a wide range of projects that will benefit the entire community.

“We hear loud and clear how important it is to balance maintaining the existing facilities that we have, whilst planning and delivering new infrastructure for our growing community,” said Mr Swift- McNair.

“This budget is very much the result of engagement with our community over a long period of time, and we look forward to continuing to listen to and deliver for the Port Macquarie-Hastings community.”
