Display Village home builders helping the region’s homeless
The Sovereign Hills Display Village is proud to support the MAD Jazz fundraising event raising vital funds to help the region’s homeless.
The jazz day, on Sunday 9 September at Bago Vineyards is an initiative of the Make a Difference foundation which is raising funding to ensure the Orange Sky Laundry van remains viable.
“We are proud to support such a worthy cause in our own backyard and commend Make a Difference for helping the most vulnerable members of our community,” said a display village spokesperson.
Make a Difference founder Erin Denham welcomed the Display Village’s support and explained the Orange Sky Laundry van provides a free clothes washing and drying facility to the homeless and disadvantaged across the Hastings and Kempsey.
“It costs approximately $6 to complete a load of washing and drying for one of our friends,” shared Erin. “Since the van has been in operation, there have been nearly 1000 washes which is fantastic.
“The van and its many volunteers are making a huge difference to the lives of others, not only through clean clothes, but positive and non-judgemental conversations.”
More than 50 volunteers donate their time each week to run eight shifts in Port Macquarie, Taree, Laurieton, Wauchope and Kempsey.
There are approximately 3,000 people on the Mid North Coast experiencing homelessness, according to Erin.
With four bands set to entertain the audience at Bago Vineyards, including Blu Hypothesis, Big Band Theory, MacKillop College Big Band and the St Columba Anglican School Jazz Band, it’s set to be a spectacular event.
“Agostina’s are providing a mouth-watering menu that can be complemented nicely with some Bago bubbly,” added Erin.
The Sovereign Hills Display Village builders include: Adenbrook Homes, Better Homes and Developments, Cavalier Homes, Coral Homes, Hotondo Homes, Integrity New Homes, McDonald Jones Homes, Perry Homes, Pycon Homes and Constructions, Sorensen and Caldon Builders, Stroud Homes and Vaughan Homes.
The MAD Jazz day will run from 10am to 3pm at Bago Vineyards. Donations will be accepted on entry.
